First, the basics: what is a serum, anyway?

Serums are liquid solutions with powerful active ingredients for your skin. They often come in bottles with a dropper, because you apply them in small quantities (just a few drops).

Serums can be light, water-based moisturisers, but they can also be oil based – especially natural serums. In short, serums are active, potent products for your skin.

Why are serums great for your skin?

1) they work!

They pack a lot of active ingredients (at least ours do). Much more than a simple facial cream, for example.

2) they absorb quickly

Second, they are made to absorb quickly into your skin, delivering antioxidants and other active ingredients to your cells.

3) they have visible effects

Serums can improve skin texture, making it smoother. Pores can appear smaller. Using a proper facial serum increases the moisture levels in your skin and makes fine lines less visible. In general, a good serum treatment should make your skin look healthier, smoother and more youthful.

We really recommend you combine all three as they are formulated to work together and support each other. When you combine them, your skin gets a lot of antioxidants, is intensely hydrated and protected against premature aging. When you use them for a couple of weeks, your skin will become more balanced, clear, soft and less wrinkly. It does not matter what your skin type is – our serums are made to improve the way your skin feels and looks.

Q: Should I choose a natural or non-natural skin serum? ????

Natural vs. Non-Natural (Synthetic) serums

Serums can be natural or non-natural (synthetic) in origin. How do you know if your serum is not natural? Well, the easiest way is to check the list of ingredients (INCI). Does it contain stuff like propylene glycol, propane-1,2-diol, paraffins or mineral oil? If it does, it is not a natural skin serum. Mind you, this is not a comprehensive list of “unwanted” ingredients.

The price is also a good sign. If a serum is very cheap, it most likely is not natural – synthetic ingredients can be extremely cheap (and we mean extremely) when compared to natural ingredients. Often, the only reason such synthetic ingredients are used, is to keep the cost of the serum down. It also means the serum is full of stuff your skin doesn’t need and really has no business in good skincare.

And how do you know if a serum is from natural ingredients? Well, most brands will proudly scream that fact from the top of their lungs. Like us! We’re proud to only make natural stuff and we’re happy to say so. But you should still check the ingredients list.

So what is best for your skin? Here at Miss Alice, we believe natural ingredients are the only way to go (here’s more about what the ingredients we use). They’re great for the skin. But you’re a smart babe so we’re sure you can make up your own mind on what is best for you.

How to use your Miss Alice active serums

Always apply to clean skin.

If you’re combining Hey, Gorgeous! with the other serums (you should!), always use Hey, Gorgeous! first, then apply Wake Up (in the morning) or Night Shift (before bed).

Give your skin at least 21 days to get a little bit used to clean natural cosmetics and see better results. In that time, you should feel a difference in the smoothness and balance of your skin.

You do not need to take a break from our serums. You can use them continuously. We recommend daily use to get the best results.

If you run out of a single serum, you can of course continue using the other serums. They work best when they’re together, but a single serum still delivers plenty of great active ingredients to your skin cells.
